Thread: Can't boot into recovery mode

trying update nvidia driver, have done booting recovery mode, holding [shift] doesn't work anymore - no matter what/how/why press/hold etc etc pc boots usual. have done sudo update-grub

/etc/default/grub looks lie this, have messed abt since problem surfaced...

alternatively, sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop gives me black screen blinking cursor - there command should type prompt?

sorted. 'peasants edition' asrock p4i65g mobo, or it's accompanying bios using had issues firing usb keyboard prior os. swapped usb keyboard ps/2 plug 1 , able grub. not first time i've had problem, i've found antique ps/2 keyboard useful quite few times getting grub.
