Thread: Prevent access to other machines on local network

i've got interesting network question somebody.

i've got network controlled netgear router (192.168.1.1), handles machines on local network.

1 of these machines server (192.168.1.5) can accessed outside world - router forwards necessary ports server.

i'd include ssh access on server allow friends use when need to. however, don't want them have access other machines on network. so, how can configure things server (192.168.1.5) can't connect other machines on 192.168.1.x network? (obviously still needs talk router can see outside world!)

what's best way set up?

steve.

how activating firewall functionality on machine, , disallowing local access? there gui-tools set up.
