Thread: Webcam stops working after hard reset


i searched forum , found topics regarding issue, did not find solution. problem following:

i'm using desktop pc + logitech quickcam pro 9000 camera surveillance. i'm using vlc record stream , project stream on television. version of ubuntu 11.04 (32bit). working fine except 1 thing.

when there power failure during recording (for example wants replace pc) , desktop rebooted, can't camera work. doesn't show in /dev/video*. thing works unplug camera , plug in again.

things have tried:
-add uvcvideo /etc/modules
-tried

sudo rmmod uvcvideo sudo modprobe uvcvideo (with , without quirks=2)

-tried restarting usb_storage

hope can try procedure webcam next week, hope knows solution problem..

ubuntu 10.04 lucid lynx re: webcam not working (dell sp2208wfp)
try terminal
rmmod uvcvideo
modprobe uvcvideo
dmseg

repeat these (<5) until camera initialises okay..

try ppa update v4l components..
