Why would I not want to Blend RGB and Text Colors Using Gamma 1.00?
shapes , text anti-aliased visibly better blending settings in advanced controls section of color settings set follows:
just example, consider appearance of edges of text , circular shape layer in srgb document settings set vs. cleared:
set above:
cleared:
the difference subtle, significant in opinion, marking difference between okay quality , quality. can see difference in partial pixel shading @ curved edges in enlargement of portion of above:
so question this:
is there reason wouldn't want set above values , use them time?
i understand concepts of gamma , pixel blending (and think it's great photoshop has feature), ask question here because there may subtleties of how photoshop uses these settings i'm not aware of, , notably not set way default photoshop cs6.

blending gamma 1.0 slower, , can lose precision (quantization).
blending gamma 1.0 make existing documents, or documents other users different.
most users not need change settings.
some users working third party software works in gamma 1.0 may need change settings, , researchers may need change settings work.
blending text using gamma 1.0 not correct.
text antialiasing still more of art science. (and why there still setting it)
the gamma blending setting text in cs6 result in glyphs appearing same weight when light on dark , dark on light, , @ different positions relative pixel grid. gamma 2.2 makes dark on light fat , light on dark thin. gamma 1.0 makes dark on light thin , light on dark fat. both extremes make glyphs appear change shape when positioned @ different phases relative pixel grid.
