Thread: accessing itunes music through ubuntu

there old thread has tutorial having difficulty following steps.

here tutorial:
to this, need mount os x partition in ubuntu.
adding line /etc/fstab:

/dev/sda<whatever number partition os x - 2 first partition normally> /mnt hfsplus defaults 0 1

then, on os x partition go home directory , info, , grant read permissions everybody. way ubuntu has permission access music.

after that, in ubuntu install restricted extras (in add/remove programs). way can play mp3/aac files.

finally, in rhythmbox (or whatever music player use), add directory /mnt/users/<your user id>/music/itunes music

should it. if have songs purchased itunes store, these won't play unless they're itunes plus tracks - blame drm that.

first problem /etc/fstab file read-only. in order add line needs read-write. how make /etc/fstab file read-write?

next question:
don't quite understand partition number things. not point yet. if has idea of how specify or clear great!

/dev/sda<whatever number partition os x - 2 first partition normally> /mnt hfsplus defaults 0 1

again new linux explaining things in laymens terms appreciated.
