Corrupt files - Need Help - Graphic Update Mac Pro Nehalem

with ati radeon hd 4870 corrupted files using photoshop large files (1-10gb , 20-80 layers in 16bit mode) quite often.

sometimes starts making gradient in layer mask. masks in layers affected , corrupt.

going in history not solve issue.

sometimes in pixel-layers.

sometimes when using smartfilters.

but when setting gpu usage normal issues happen.

apple support/apple technicians nail down gpu of card. card exchanged 2 times , issue again.

(only once repair damaged file - in case corruption took place in render of smart filter of pixel-layer)

now want upgrade.

wanted know if photoshop cs6 - subscribe via creative cloud - take full advantage of nvidia pny vcq4000mac-pb quadro card macpro nehalem.

or if ati radeon hd 5870 better choice.

(for normal retouch-work - no 3d involved)

more info needed (re file corruption): machine specs, installed ram, available free space exact version of os , of photoshop, etc.
