In Design CS 5.0 (7.0.4) slow file performance

i work on large catalog in workgroup setting of 5 people. work files on our desktop store them on server when done. images linked locatoin on server. having issues our files being slow , unrepsonsive.  occurs when start work on document , text frame edits. also, sometimes, files not open of in workgroup. issue specific catalog files nothing else. behavior sparatic, users can open , work in files fine, others report cannot open same document or is painfully slow , hesitant. 

 

to give background on issue, had update styles year. changed basic style different typeface. added simple grep styles. used book function sync these styles rest of catalog. in additon, found not users using version 7.0.4. 3 of 1 on 7.0.0 other on 7.0.3.  have since updated our software. turned off auto font activation. run universal type client 3.1.0 (4)

 

we have tried keith gilbert's method of moving pages http://blog.gilbertconsulting.com/2010/10/another-way-to-repair-damaged-indesign.html. allowed of not open file , able open file , work on them. however, others reported slow performance in same file. have exported them out idml files without success.

 

the weird thing issue is sparatic , seems machine specific. if repair file on machine not work on others. others have files have no issue , cannot open them. have tried these files in cs6 , seem work fine.

 

so font issue? image issue? booked not?  fact tried change "basic styel"? not think because files in book not know part of book image not "know' part of indeisgn file. serer?

 

if has ideas please respond. i've tired prety can think of. remember isn't preference issue becuase can work fine in other non-catalog files.

 

help me obi-wan you're hope.

this kind of performance hit caused lots of cross-references, live preflight, or large number of grep styles.
