Thread: Broadcom STA Wireless driver causes system crash
i sent following email broadcom (linux-wlan-client-support-list@broadcom.com). i'll post update if receive response.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
current linux sta 802.11 driver causes system crash. i've verified under ubuntu 11.04 , linux mint 11 (an ubuntu derivative). oddly enough, worked find under ubuntu 10.10. chipset 4321, cpu amd phenom ii 920, , motherboard asus m3a78-em. tried sta driver ships ubuntu compiling 1 @ http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php, including patch kernel versions > 2.6.37.
confident linux driver problem. if connect machine router using ethernet cable, works fine. also, wifi adapter works fine under windows. symptoms wifi adapter appears connect network correctly , works fine short transfers. when try larger transfer, such speed test or streaming mp3, 1 of 3 things happens after 5 10 seconds:
1) screen remains in graphics mode locks up, including mouse pointer. no keyboard input has effect.
2) screen goes text mode , repeats following on , over: [435.610002] ehci_hcd 0000:00:13.2ci-dma:out of iommu space 18 bytes.
3) screen goes text mode , prints appear cpu register contents. took picture of phone if help, text kind of hard make out.
can give appreciated.
i have bug report open @ the kernel bugzilla. on gentoo 11 when found , thought might have been did switched ubuntu , same thing. happens on kernels > 2.6.36. might make them take more if confirmed on bug report.
