Thread: Ubuntu guest time on XenServer host is wrong

i posted on citrix support forums hoping insight how fix issue.

i've had issue since installed ubuntu 10.04 template found.

template found able integrate xenserver tools , able build myself ubuntu server in pv mode.

problem obvious after installation until been mild annoyance solve.

xenserver configured correct timezone + ntp, in console shows correct time.

have openfiler virtual appliance shows correct time know isolated ubuntu vm.

have seen many posts refer /proc/sys/xen/.... path , set independent_wallclock variable.
on vm not have such path, leads me wonder if xenserver tools missing related time sync.

on ubuntu vm have following time info setup:

timezone: america / regina (no dst)

when run date command:

current default time zone: 'america/regina'
local time now: fri jun 24 21:58:01 cst 2011.
universal time now: sat jun 25 03:58:01 utc 2011.

time 15:58 cst

seems though vm unaware virtualized , assumes hwclock time gets host in utc instead of local time zone.

ideas how fix this?

you may have answered own question. if hardware clock set local time, or ubuntu responds though is, perhaps can tell ubuntu hardware clock local not utc.

edit /etc/default/rcs how to , change:

code:
utc=yes

to

code:
utc=no
