Thread: wireless install in asus netbook u10.04


i bought asus netbook , installed ubuntu 10.04 on win7.

have not succeeded in establishing link our wireless modem. klik on icon, vpn configure, choose 'wireless,' , see 3 text boxes, 2 choice drops.

ssid: name of network

mode: left @ 'infrastructure'

bssid: name of wireless modem, bottom of box, 'admin' (?)

mac address: 12 digit number off bottom of wireless modem

mtu: left @ 'automatic'

@ point, 'apply' not become live, klik 'wireless security' 'none' default, leave it

on 'ipv4 settings', no idea dhcp leave 'automatic', , klik 'routes'


insert 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1 1 in 'wireless connection 1' address of wireless modem, net mask, wan modem, not @ confident of them

'ok' , go dhcp screen, 'apply' not active.


can not create 'wireless connection.'

help,please.
you need name of network (whatever yours called) s ssid. infrastructure correct. don't need bssid or mac address. mtu automatic ok. need set wireless security in case network wep or wpa or wpa2. nothing if unsecured. don't need of other number in 'wireless connection 1'; want call it. mine called wireless network! have checked see if additional drivers available card. in terminal type in

lspci -nn

(that lspci in lower case). post says network (wireless card) xxxx:xxxx or name.
