Need to disable update notifications for reader and flash player

hopefully i'm asking question in right place.   please direct me if i'm not.

due issues alot of our applications web-enabled , rely in ie.  when 1500+ users prompted date reader or flash player not understand turn off 'optional' check mark download , install chrome.

this cause multiple helpdesk calls web-enabled apps not work correctly in chrome.

we had found documention: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/acrobat_reader_updater.pdf

to disable update notifications, however  checking both xp , win7 machines, key mentioned on page 16  of pdf mentioned above, did not exist in hklm, did find in hkcu.   tried create icheck , icheckreader in both places not sure if working.

here our actual goal:  don't want users prompted update reader or flash player because of chrome install.   don't want reader or flash update 'automatically'; still want ability update manually.

how can turn off auto update functionality, , prompting of updates users never see them in both apps?

we have users reader, 8, 9 , 10.

if can provide documentation, detailed steps, registry keys, etc.  appreciate it.

thank you,

chad

you need use featurelock down key disable updater acrobat , reader. per documentation, http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/837/cpsid_83709/attachments/acrobat_reader_updater.pdf
