Problem with footnote numbering when importing from Word

hey there. need urgent this, hope able check in.

 

i'm having trouble importing footnotes docx file indesign. i'm working on cs5, on os x 10.6.8, in case matters anything.

 

 

below screenshot of what's happening (nevermind crazy language or content, @ numbers). indesign adds number "1" in beginning of every footnote. result, footnote reference "1" in text become footnote "11" in footnotes etc.

 

needless say, major problem!

 

should have formatted footnotes somehow differently in word? haven't changed footnote settings there besides formatted "footnote reference" , "footnote text" paragraph styles. tried looking @ indesign's footnote options can't find this. tried changing footnote numbering letters instead, result "a" in text, "1a" in footnotes. argh!

here's else, may or may not relevant. apparantly during import of word file footnote references footnotes in bottom of page transformed character style footnote text. might messing indesing, tries add own footnote reference in front of it?

 

can't figure out way change this, in word footnote references fine , have right character style. if footnote reference number editable cannot it, delete of change color or anything. maddening.

 

it's stupid i'm not seeing. wish point out me.
