i got message after posting link in community cafe contest entered son in. had asked people take @ picture , please cast vote him.

got quite few replies 1 of negative topic being spam.

kindly replied if people felt spam not obligated read it, vote, or view it.

asking favor see if him voted next round.

final prize small college scolarship, , gets on cover of magazine.

shortly after posting thread recieved pm message:

"hi,

thread above has been moved moment whilst staff discuss it's suitability these forums.

i'll make aware of outcome."


replied, hoping mis-communication had read forum rules many times , saw nothing prohibiting posting of personal links.

re-read forum rules posting, , composed response detailing why felt post not in violation.

"have reviewed forum code of conduct, , believe link covered under section "links: may post links sites content acceptable according code of conduct. useful when giving tech support , explaining topic , linking wiki page or linux site more information. may link personal site." section. not specify link must linux related site, content may not violate code of conduct.

links not commercial advertising, , believe them quite unobtrusive in forum has no assigned topic, , described as:
"the community chat area lighthearted , enjoyable discussions, might find around water cooler @ work.

non-tech-support topic may discussed here. discussions on religion , politics not allowed, except politics directly related free , open source issues. topic or discussion causes problems or drama closed. area intended fun , community building, not arguments. please take elsewhere. thanks!"

unless have caused problems or drama, post re-instated it's original place.

though appreciate forum's ability exterminate spam, not type of post policy designed control.

find nice these forums virtually spam free, when posts believe in complete compliance forum rules, should not removed, in section states place talk not cause "problems" or "drama"

please consider post formal appeal decision not re-instate thread. note if decision stands @ least appreciate explanation of rules have violated may avoid issues such in future.
