Thread: Grub issues on new Natty installation

today recieved asus t101mt netvertible in mail, , after spending few minutes playing touchscreen in windows, time purify hdd (reformat ext4 ) , install ubuntu 11.04. worked out great, spent whole day making functional , customizing heart's content, , decided time install android-x86 on it. 2.3 wouldn't boot, tried 2.2 , installed right away, although barely functioned. when done installing, redid bootloader, , left grub nothing android in menu.lst file. tried multiple guides on restoring bootloader original location, sda1's /boot/grub, failed. gave up, , tried adding ubuntu sda2's /grub/menu.lst, failed boot
title ubuntu 11.04
root (hd0,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic root=/dev/sda1
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.38-8-generic
i erased android menu.lst see if syntax error, no.
tried going grub command line , entering
>root (hd0,0)
>kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.38-8-generic
>boot
but got "error 15: file not found" after entering kernel

i've spent past 2 or 3 hours trying fix this, , i'm pretty confident have no chance of fixing on own, unless of course reinstall ubuntu, that's last solution want use because of how time spent setting thing today.
i'm exhausted of this, i'm going pass out now. appreciated.
