Thread: How can I gain the level of knowledge and skill as a true hacker (as far as books go)

before ask question, want define term hacker, article define (http://www.pavietnam.net/), "the jargon file contains bunch of definitions of term ‘hacker’, having technical adeptness , delight in solving problems , overcoming limits. if want know how become hacker, though, 2 relevant."

i'm computer science student, , i've been past couple years. don't feel know enough computers, networking, internet, protocols, programming, algorithms or many other areas of computer science. gain technical expertise of true hacker.

question is, books can read me reach goal. please include links amazon.com, or isbns in answer.

also, appreciate link specialized forum can ask question again, , receive more input.

learn everything

true hacker (hacking) covers many aspects, there thousands of books read , lots do.

learn different os (in linux learn read man pages)
learn code (in different languages)
learn hardware (building,installing,upgrading,repairing,modifying ...legacy , upto date (dont learn how stick processor in, learn alu etc
keep learning everything, everytime can.
learn comforatable in denary, binary, ternary, octal, hex in everyday speak, learn ascii know off heart

best bet @ beginning learn program...choice of first language debatable...for modern day oop recommended, learn c add onto later oop concepts , port whatever choose.
c close hardware , teach alot, once know hardware , software , how built) foundation else.

true hacker hack......keep hacking away @ ...there no book teach need know, unless count google
