Thread: Ubuntu freezing


hello all, absolute ubuntu n00b here. i've messed around in past, , know command or 2 terminal, other that.. n00b. today reinstalled 11.04 on laptop sole os. noticed every often, cpu , ram spikes 100% , minute later, becomes unresponsive. mouse moves, that's it. hard reboot required. also, screen capture windows pop wildfire. i've disconnected internal keyboard, used usb keyboard, , unplugged usb, still happened. happens both on live mode (usb flash, downloaded ftp) , on install (from cd, downloaded torrent). if helps, here's additional info on laptop
hp pavilion ze5200
intel p-4 mobile processor @2.8
ati mobility radeon
512&256 ddr1, pc333
40 gb wd blue (5200rpm pata)
suggestions nice, hunch. it's drive me crazy..

ur computer old. 2 year old 1005ha eeepc have better specs computer. in fact have ddr2 ram faster ddr1. recommend getting lighter window manager. maybe xfce strike fancy or else choose lxde lighter
