Thread: Unity doesn't start after xserver-xorg downgrade
dear all,
since intel graphics drivers shipped maverick there problem running wine/cxoffice application under ubuntu. problem didn't exist in lucid:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1602422
again resolved downgrading xserver-xorg packages lucid (unfortunately need set priorities!). however, after doing unity not starting anymore. see notifications (for example when network-manager establishes connection) nothing else - blank desktop.
ubuntu classic compiz effects enabled works great. "known" incompatibility or there chance fix it?
, cheers,
riko
ok, after hours of playing , trying unity work, i'm ready give up! bad, because know better - keep open mind, know
anyway, tried hints panel , launcher back, including following advises here:
http://ubuntu4beginners.blogspot.com...-in-unity.html
created new account , tried login (just in case unity profile in compiz somehow screwed account), effect: empty desktop - no panel, no launchers.
mentioned test, don't see down-grade should have effected possibility run unity (see attached unitytest.txt). compiz effects in classic gnome runs great.
maybe can make sense .xsession-errors file attached well. guys last hope!
listening , cheers,
riko
