i'm not sure understand want here couple ideas.

can clone vm have duplicate vm. i've used clonevdi success , love it.

http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtop...hilit=clonevdi

it's small link @ bottom of post #1

think can run kind of cloneing software or backup tool in virtual machine make copy of os that's inside vm. i've used clonezilla linux before think works windows software too.

http://clonezilla.org/downloads.php

if want use clonzilla inside vm: first go settings (for vm) > system - , make sure in "boot from" field unchecked except "cd/dvd rom". put clonezilla live cd burned drive , start vm. vm boot clonezilla inside , can use copy/ clone os that's inside.

problem i"m not sure if virtual box modifies os when it's installed in it. if not, should ok.

can tell clonezilla save image file (best not store on same drive thing it's cloning - put on external). when want restore somewhere else run clonezilla live on want restore on , have restore image saved it.

hope helps. let know if have other questions or if not it.
--------------------------

linux has called

code:
dd
dd old program that, think, came ibm or something. might on windows too. linux it's that's standard in os , makes raw iso image , can of entire drive. if in wserver 2003 used make iso running in os in vm - think. might difficult though. thought i'd mention because used before , did great me.
----------------------

edit:

sorry, guess it's in unix/ linux

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/dd_(unix) found out.

if ever use dd though really careful. if make mistake how run command can wipe out.
