Thread: About to set up dual-boot on HP Mini

hi everyone,

bought wife hp mini (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp+-+min...&skuid=1783123) , want ubuntu netbook running on it. comes windows 7 starter, want retain because netflix won't run linux (gives bs error "your browser compatible, os isn't"). so, i'd dual boot.

desktop right runs kubuntu, , can boot in xp using virtualbox ose. owing fact netbook down on power relative desktop, doesn't seem idea on netbook, hence dual boot.

i've seen lot of "help, screwed up!" threads, , since hp wasn't kind enough send along disc windows 7 on it, need right first time. so, i'm going post i'm planning do, please let me know if i'm going mess up. i've compiled below looking through bunch of previous threads.

1) defrag windows drive
2) use windows 7 software shrink windows partition
2b) not create new partition using windows software, keep unallocated
3) boot off of usb key ubuntu in it, select unallocated space install

questions:

1) when boot computer up, should grub screen asking os want boot into, correct?
2) i'm downloading 11.04 right now...anything watch out for?
3) couldn't find install file ubuntu netbook, make selection during install?

2. select "ubuntu classic" desktop when @ login screen may prefer on unity (the new look...)
3. difference between netbook editions , desktop editions ui (unity netbook style shipped versions, meaning there no netbook edition now...). install desktop edition
