Thread: Install to USB drive
ok, no longer linux newbie, i'm not pro yet either. i'm hoping around read , offer quick advice. have old laptop want try installing ubuntu on. has clean drive, fat formatted. thinking hook drive current ubuntu machine via usb enclosure, download linux onto it, , install. here concerns:
don't want accidentally install on current linux on machine. ubuntu install on usb connected drive , leave drive in machine alone?
should install linux while still connected machine, or should put drive new machine before beginning installation?
advice appreciated.
the simplest solution physically disconnect cable "regular" hard drive "target" drive (in usb enclosure) hard drive. prevent accidentally installing wrong drive due user error.![]()
