Thread: Setting up a proxy or VPN
hi all,
have found forum useful, thought i'd register , ask question of own!
have 2 computers , shortly moving country uk while. plan leave 1 behind (set ubuntu) , route internet traffic through abroad (using mac), websites think i'm in uk.
complete linux/ubuntu virgin, au fait mac/windows/basic networking. hence finding amazingly frustrating cannot work out start in world of ubuntu!
firstly, can point me in direction of whether want set 'proxy server' (if possible) on ubuntu machine, or whether open vpn easier (that seems capable of doing job can gather)?
please go easy on me; i've read threads 1 (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1777175) , have beyond me, let alone open vpn howto (which rather irritatingly sounds more accessible if you're using windows!)
if knows of nice gui-based app, make day, although fear it's going terminal bash grep or
many many help/advice.

to set proxychainscode:sudo apt-get install proxychainsadd proxy addresses , if sock5 or whatever make self more stealth install tor button firefox behind can add squid looking hours before getting og ipcode:sudo nano /ect/proxychains.confinstall privoxy un-comment the line , add sock5 , remove vidaila , further away. net speed might slows down.
