Thread: Switching Desktop Enviroments

dear forums,

installed ubuntu 11.04 , loved it. since wanted see how minimal go installed lubuntu de aswell.. worst mistake ever.

worked , got desktop enviroment. since whenever try login ubuntu error:

xsession: unsupported number of arguments (2); falling default session.

logging lubuntu keeps working. if log ubuntu old wallpaper + conky thing nothing else.. basicly hard reboot needed because alt+f2 bring terminal or whatever wont work either. havent tested tty1-6 yet.

i'm 5 houres away reinstalling all.. (prox time needed like.. houre tops , back.)

help? thanks

did following:
- sudo aptitude reinstall ubuntu-desktop
- synaptic package manager -> complete removal lubuntu, did thing while logged lubuntu. no errors, no effect.
- sudo aptitude remove ubuntu-desktop, sudo aptitude install ubuntu-desktop

far; no effect. still error.

i had similar problems once, deleting .xsession or .xinitrc in home-dir helped me. however, used these files set custom session, might not exist
