With browser integration is a pdf downloaded by Acrobat or the browser?

hi all,

a colleague , having disagreement in regards how pdf file downloaded. have been experiencing intermittent networking issues , both recognize problem. when attempting download pdf internet intermitently receive "a network error has occured..." message.

my colleague has installed acrobat x (from 9.4) , has noticed has improved ability download pdf documents. speculating add-on acts download manager , has better timeout settings , installing newer version fix.

my belief browser download , allows add-on open file downloaded. believe fact has worked better him coincidence. believe upgrading great idea not believe assertion correct , no matter version present issue purely network related. accept possible browser change/tweak improve performance.

because issue intermittent believe colleague has got working coicidence. did install acrobat x , still had issue 1 of 4 times attmepted download. colleague did not have in 4 sperate attempts sure had worked. aware there lot of other factors can come in play browser version, other installed add-ons etc, question in it's purest form adobe acrobat manage download of pdf file when integrated browser?

please assist in putting our argument aside in time friday drinks

the question is: how download?

purely downloading, e.g. right-click on online link, select save target as, not invoke adobe software.  handled browser only, other file type.

what os / browser involved here?
