10 hour export time for 2 minute video

hi,

i using premiere pro cs3 windows vista.

my laptop has 50gb of free disk space , 4gb of memory.

i have purchased new cannon camera records video in mov res 1920x1080.

i have 6 minute video clip 860mb in original format. attempting resize video 1280x720 whilst altering levels , changing speed/duration 220%. alteration speed clips length reduced around 2 or 3 minutes long. wish export video mov, keeping in original format.

when attempting render hitting enter on clip, or skipping straight exporting, recieve estimated time of 10 hours complete. exportation seems going ahead 1 frame every 10 or 20 seconds.

would appreciate tips i'm going wrong this. i'm inexpiernced premiere pro , therefore not know if problem settings using or computer.

thanks much

tim

1st - average laptop going slow video editing (more below)

- laptop video editing pc http://forums.adobe.com/message/4578948

- go http://ppbm5.com/ , check laptop results "guesstimate" brand/model place

2nd - fast computer may slow, depending on video file , "combined" effects

more on why "average" laptop slow... plus, of course, average laptop has 5400rpm drive instead of 7200rpm

trying use 1 hard drive video editing

.

you music conductor, baton use point various parts of orchestra... windows pointing various parts of hard drive windows housekeeping or load program segments various functions

.

now, @ same time , same hand... while still using baton conduct orchestra... pick bow , play fiddle... doing video file @ same time other work

.

you person cannot both @ same time same hand

.

a computer little better, in can switch 1 kind of task quickly... not enough easy video editing

.

you need @ least 2 hard drives (separate drives, never partition http://forums.adobe.com/thread/650708 more) windows (or mac os) , software on boot drive, , video files on 2nd drive boot drive not slowed down trying everything

.

partition = crash http://forums.adobe.com/thread/957286

.

i find 3 drives use work me, editing avchd video... people use 4th drive, video input files on drive 3 , output files on drive four... bought mid-tower case instead of full tower case (my bad... had fit in space available on office desk!) use 3 drives fit

.

depending on exact hardware (motherboard brand & model , usb2 enclosure brand & model , external hard drive brand & model) , type of video file, may... or may not... able use external usb2 hard drive sd (standard definition) video editing

.

steve grisetti in premiere elements forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856208 , jim simon in premiere pro forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/856433 use usb externals editing

.

a usb3 hard drive connected motherboard usb3 supposed fast enough video editing (i don't have such, don't know) esata have fast enough data transfer video editing... have not used esata hardware below... reference only, ymmv , usual disclaimers
