How to convince a designer the font is too light

i'm not designer. dabble, have no formal training.

my background user experience , user interface.

a designer has created templates used pdfs. font not light, designer has chosen use color value towards center of black/white gradient.

as result, when try read pdfs produced, have difficulty. i've asked around other users in company , have complained light, gray font.

unfortunately, designer backed brand manager, claims font , color value represents our brand.

if our brand being difficult use, agree, need make argument having document users can read more important reflecting brand.

i'm hoping can point me in direction of articles or discussions of issue.

i'm afraid don't have articles, knee-jerk reaction recruit other users and, henceforth, send company e-mails or memos, or whatever in same hard read font/color combination -- messages going chain of command. after all, if it's enough pdfs, must enough everything. middle management pogue insisted; represents brand!

i've used such tactics before.

good luck
