Thread: Bad playback of HD movies

hi there

have installed ubuntu 11.04 64bit. have pretty powerful computer: intel quad 6600, 4gb ram, ati 4870 (512 mb).

using dual boot win7 , there multimedia experience flawless. games run great , hd movies well.

stick win7 gaming on, dev work , multimedia inside ubuntu (that's because huge fan, used in virtual machines lot).

so, after spending 3 afternoons polishing environment, making cube work unity, deciding myself between tons of themes , bringing ubuntu state like, discover disappointment, trying play hd movies...is pain in a**. have proprietary drivers (ati catalyst 11.6) , vlc installed, plus ubuntu restricted extras , gstreamer packages.
strangely video player, hd movies run little better, still not perfect. , talking 720p here, not 1080p. vlc, seems sound buggy. regular dvd rip movies work...but guess trying use x256 codecs, fails.

hope there solution this...i don't want go out there buy nvidia card....

in advance.

anybody? no clue?

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
