Thread: kernel panic each time I connect an external monitor (fglrx)

hello,
have freshly installed ubuntu 11.04 on laptop computer ati card.

have installed latest ati proprietary drivers 11-6 manually, downloading them ati website, creating .deb packages , installing them.

everytime connect external monitor, system seems go kernel panic. laptop monitor becomes black; can see mouse cursor, not move. external monitor remains black.
system not respond command, neither alt-ctrl-f1 nor elephants key.

have looked @ /var/log/syslog , /var/log/xorg.log*, none of these end error.

idea on how proceed? have looked in internet, seems nobody having same problem.

i have same problem too. , didn't find solution also. 1 thing can say, it's when monitor plugged before power on laptop, works, in "mirror mode". changing monitor settings cause system hang
