Thread: No such device error; grub rescue

i tried reinstall ubuntu 11 on large drive. not install completed because prompts not straight forward had hoped. ended destroying large drive not recognized in win 7 computer.

when try boot win xp drive (or other drive) error:

no such device b2f0458-9253-4133-04b5-???????.
grub rescue

when connect drive win 7 computer cannot find file word grub in name. not able search text inside files on win 7.

how win xp drive boot without looking ubuntu install not exist?

you'll need restore xp mbr boot code. best use windows cd.

can using ubuntu live cd these commands:
sudo apt-get install lilo
sudo lilo -m /dev/sda mbr (assuming xp disk sda - check using disk utility)


grub boot code , second stage code embedded @ front of disk. cannot search these areas normal means.

ubuntu installer badly designed imo. have careful out grub boot code put. grub breaks mbr-system windows relies on. recommend disconnecting windows disks while install grub in order make sure grub code ends on ubuntu disk.

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
