so received new laptop system 76 , i'm running issues.

1) i'm trying hook 24" lcd @ home, , seems fn f7 button absolutely nothing. when try have monitor main screen , turn off laptop lcd via monitor control, turns off both monitors, have hit escape revert, , reverts black screen have hop on tty , reboot manually see anything.

2) related perhaps 1, when plug in monitor via hdmi, distorts laptop screen , panels ugly on monitor.

3) 2 finger swipe action not working on anything. browsers, desktop, anything.


system specs:

*hard drive : 750 gb 7200 rpm sata ii
*memory : 8 gb dual channel ddr3 sdram @ 1333mhz - 2 x 4gb
*processor : 2nd generation intel core i7-2720qm processor ( 6mb l3 cache, 2.20ghz)
*wireless : intel centrino advanced-n 6230 - 802.11a/b/g/n wireless lan + bluetooth combo module


ideas? honestly, unhappy start new laptop.

we've seen few issues unity , intel graphics. first, please try setting ubuntu use both built-in display , external monitor. when click apply, you'll black bars on top of monitors. go ahead , press alt+f2, run command:

this reload unity, , should remove black bars. now, go ahead , disable built-in monitor, hit apply. may black areas on screen again, , if so, press alt+f2 , run "unity" command again. should clear up.

2 finger scroll, may come disabled default. can enable hitting ubuntu key on keyboard , typing "mouse". click on "mouse" application, take mouse configuration dialog. now, open "touchpad" tab , change scroll method edge scrolling 2 finger.
