Thread: Removed Graphics - Boots to tty1

after months of problem, blame on fglrx driver's issues ubuntu, removed graphics card , sold on ebay, i'm going buy nvidia. however, after removal, rather booting login screen, boots screen saying

code:
ubuntu 10.10 neptune tty1 neptune login:
obviously, neptune named computer. upon logging in username , password,

code:
last login: fri jul 1 12:59:35 edt 2011 on tty1 linux neptune 2.6.35-28-generic-pae #50 smp fri mar 18 20:43:15 utc 2011 i686 gnu/linux ubuntu 10.10 welcome ubuntu! *documentation: https://help.ubuntu.com/ new release 'natty' available. run 'do-release-upgrade upgrade it.
i've tried few commands , generic updates, definetely not want natty narwhal. 11.04 terrible in opinion, unity setup simplifying fun ubuntu... sickens me. anyways, do?

also, forgot remove fglrx driver before taking out graphics card. may have been source of problen...

have tried running

sudo service gdm start
