Thread: Ubuntu Laptop Suggestions

i looking pickup development laptop , wondering if had suggestions laptop ubuntu compatible doesn't have out of box, don't want have spend hours getting drivers working.

what care about:
good battery life - 6+ hours per charge nice.
processor - not fan of atom processors, or netbook type processors. core 2 duo, i5, or amd equivalent should fine though.
cost - isn't gaming laptop or anything, , don't use of work, i'd avoid spending fortune. doesn't have newest model, i'm fine getting 1 off ebay long batteries aren't notorious failing after year.

six hours on i5 tall order. compute @ beach? place gets cleaned has power outlets. (i once spent 3 hours writing in o'hare, while plugged in.)

i'm happy hp g62, battery empty in less 2 hours. biggest hassle during installation hp had allocated 4 primary partitions, , wanted dual-boot. month after set up, found program in linux (sopcast) removed need dual boot...

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
