Avoid White Screen and (Not Responding) Message?
is there way force framemaker update screen when becomes unresponsive during lengthy processes?
i wrote extendscript open files in book (silently), import settings across files, update book, , save pdf file. script runs 7 times, each time different settings control various things such conditional text , variables.
the problem framemaker churns on commands, such opening files , importing settings. during time, might take 10 minutes complete command across files in book. if click off of framemaker onto applicaiton, , go framemaker see framemaker container window white background. title bar shows book name , (not responding). script still running , fine. there no feedback user indicate what's happening.
is there no way force framemaker refresh window , remove (not responding) title bar?
thanks,
jason
hi jason,
this more of limitation of framemaker's implementation of "owl" interface. not responding title bar , white screen appear not scripts , fdk clients, other long framemaker operations, updating large books, etc. in fact, in kapil verma's framemaker 11 webinar yesterday, same thing happened when creating book ditamap.
one way can minimize effect of use progress bar script, people know progress of script in spite of white screen, etc.
