Convert .avi DV type 1 to type 2 ...
i did search, nothing stuck out @ me, wagering topic buried somewhere; point away if applicable. consumer level video understanding on part here ...
i have older .avi file encoded using videostudio , "dvsd" dvc/dv codec reported gspot. reason type 1 although other files encoded way when type 2. when play file in wmp see video , hear audio in sync, there duplicate lagging slow motion sounding distorted audio track in background - weird. vlc totally chokes on file. pp can play fine without issue, can burn dvd without issues, etc.
so thought maybe need convert type 2 others produced around time. did google work , found references various tools saying can convert type 1 type 2 without re-encoding. pulled down dvdate freeware , made conversion. plays in wmp fine without weird lagging audio , looks similar. vlc can play file without hanging up, video looks lousy.
is known issue whatever did here way when? converting type 2 best way fix issue? if so, correct dvdate or similar tools can convert format without re-encoding , losing quality? there better way accomplish task, such using pp or better tool?
thanks!
