Importing from Canon XF100
first, should state on trial right now. operationg on lion 10.7.2 on imac. have couple questions.
first, app import material, or reference file location?
now on exacts. can find camera files in media window, , import them. but, since reference files on camera, usb interface makes things quite slow. so, seems logical move files onto thunderbolt drive speed. problem mxf files canon xf100 broken down 5 minute chunks. so, if have hour long interview, have 12 files sort through. since deciding between , avid, workflow camera's files pretty important. canon makes utility fcpx (which i'm using now) , avid. alows files imported camera 1 clip. but, fcpx, imports, doesn't reference. so, there way can either have app bring in entire clip one, or atleast combine clips in sources make 1 file. possible 1 area not operative trial version. setup app, , bundle can it. if comes down not cooperating video files, may have stay fcpx, or try avid (which has major mac compatibility issues, meaning buty new pc well)
thanks in advance,

hi mike
the best workflow in oppinion first copy whole content of memory card media harddrive, since premiere "only" makes reference placement of files, write.
after go premiere , find "media browser".
navigate inside there "content" folder copied, , see list of actual clips recorded, , not 5 min. chunks, describe actual files on card. premiere automaticly reads metadata card, , knows how many "chunks" there in each clip.
to import little or no hazzle possible, essential copy whole content of memory card onto harddrive.
chose clips want import, mark them, right click , chose import.
you should start editing
