i trying install joomla on windows 7. told had have xampp installed first; installed that. following instructions book "joomla dummies".
it says unzip joomla files , store them in folder under localhost. did that, called folder joomla.
then browse http://xampp/joomla. starts install. gets set 4; cannot beyond that. told resource first create mysql database use joomla; did that, fails. told resource not first create database. did that. have no clue password or user use.
is there step step guide shows how install joomla under xampp?

the default username root , not have password - so, have leave password field blank. of course, hostname localhost.
if using above details there no need create database. created automatically.
if create database, make sure username (if have created one) has been granted privileges database.
