Is Indesign suitable for creating a directory with anchored images?
i have ancient eight-page quark document (originally created in 3.5, in 8.5) contains on 200 3cm adverts created in other applications called in images anchored text. means each month can add or remove entries , rest flows round in linked text boxes.
it means quark quits every few minutes , job virtually impossible complete.
i considering recreating whole thing in indesign before do, hear doing same type of thing:
how stable indesign type of job? how cope on 200 images (pdfs, eps, tiffs, jpgs whatever) anchored text? there format images indesign prefers handle? imagine it's pretty intensive process each advert contains image or 2 , fonts of own. i'd rather keep adverts vector files text tiny – though know resaving lot in photoshop no end (removing font problems, embedded images etc etc).
any suggestions, feedback etc gratefully received.
thanks

it shouldn't problem unless quark issue comes on id (something corrupt font). long link , don't embed or paste vector art; images, fonts, or complex drawing won't add screen redraw overhead because preview jpeg proxy.
