Thread: Failure to Shut-down, Reboots fine.

i've googled days try , find solution problem no avail.

server running latest kernel (2.6.38-8 )and acpi version in bios set 2.0 (i've tried 1.0 , 3.0 version, same issues).

when shutting down server with:

sudo shutdown -p now

it runs through process , notes:

killing remaining processes                 [failed]

runs through rest of list (i can't remember rest of them ok) followed line telling me configuring acpi state s5 believe , last line is

"disabling non use cpus" -- here system hang. i've left system on night , stayed @ same spot.

sudo reboot now

along ctrl+alt+del restarts machine fine.

care take shot @ problem might be?

could post of error log? may give better explanation getting stuck
