Thread: gnome panel fail

hi all.

using gnome desktop in 9.10

start... let's see. have lower panel set display "show desktop" button, window display area, , temperature applet. within temp applet temp both hdd's, gpu, , cpu.

problem started when trying set second lower panel (third in total) display temp of hdd's clear little space window display area.. well, when did so, had set bottom small panel displayed 2 temps above gpu / cpu temps. fine until hit ok on panel pref's... had accidentally checked "auto hide".

problem after boot / log in, panel app entirely stops responding (including upper, lower, , third "problem" panels). if open system monitor , try kill/end gnome-panel app, system becomes unresponsive , can't of anything.. including opening folders... nothing.
if select gnone-panel in system monitor, stop process, kill it, restart, loading couple more apps (which nothing panel itself). upon killing it, said, restart panel app, time loading "settings", "places", "applications", , have top panel set, few of 7 or shortcuts... never makes clock. after saying much, bottom panel (during second launch of panel app) display "show desktop" button, , system monitor........... shows part of sensors app... , lower left corner, height of 2-4 pixels, flashes between black , white (which due third "problem" panel , black theme i'm using).

i've tried killing panel app, right clicking , selecting properties, it's fast of process stop me click properties. can right click , open properties sensors applet running within third panel, though take 1-2 minutes before properties window opens. if uses said app, they'll know properties limited , know changing won't fix issue :/

anyway, long story short....... how can remove dam third panel , on things? lol.

sorry if takes me little bit back, have use roommate's laptop, doesn't wireless router much, can connect every once in while few short minutes.

oh, also, should mention can "kill" panel app 2-3 times before system becomes entirely unresponsive , can move mouse before have hard restart (hitting reset button on case) don't doing.

hi all.
return minor update, hoping may helping me little problem of mine.

last night started computer idea of playing terminal , system monitor see if stop third panel auto hiding, instead did after log in, left system idle. when woke morning, opened system monitor (since nothing had changed panel itself). when checked status of panel app, noticed drawing 120% cpu (i have dual cpu's) , 1.1 gb of ram.

noticed i'm limited on programs/software i'm able run cannot mount/access either slave drive or windows partition on primary.
primary 500gb drive 20gb partition windows run in virtual machine time time necessary. when open "my computer" (from desktop) can see both slave drive , windows partition, however, when double click or right click , click "mount", i'm given error says can't accessed, or need authentication, or authentication failed.. or similar. when want find (via search tool) have open documents (from desktop) , click search button, below after search has started, have click "my documents" , select "filesystem" in order search search i'm looking specifically.
in other words, had search both "system monitor" , "gnome terminal" method, , create copy of both of these on desktop.

essentially, if want launch something, has on desktop, or have manually in hard drive.

i've said, can't access either slave drive or windows partition, , can't launch of anything.
