Thread: Ubuntu in a vm
hello
have windows 7 64bit host , want install ubuntu in vm. i'm using vmware workstation. have questions because i'm new ubuntu , hope can me.
1. should install in vm ubuntu 32bit or 64bit? totally have 4gb ram. i'm using ubuntu not much, example matlab or safe browsing.
2. how memory should allocate ubuntu in vm? totally have 4gb ram.
3. want use ubuntu safe browsing. how have take settings in ubuntu it's safe , if there infection not infect host? connection between host , guest should avoided it's not totally possible because want go in internet in vm.
1. use 32 bits vm's though run x64 linux host 4gb ram. , work fine, unless have areason use x64 such performance think irrelevant in vm example
2. depends how host performs, give mine 512 or upwards, windows & vm running on ubuntu host has 768mb , runs fine ( know have things other way around use linux host.
3. chacnce of infection of type linux vm coming down windows machine unlikely. vm can infect host in circumstance more other way around in windows vm linux host again unlikely, virus .exe not effect linux not use .exe.
safe browsing use private browsing feature in browser, run av if feel need avg, avast, clam av of available linux, opinion 50/50 on whether need linux build however
have fun
