Thread: Unable to update

hi,

have 11.04 installed on spare machine @ work. of sudden, couple of days ago, installing packages or updates started failing.

code:
$ sudo aptitude update err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty inrelease  err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty-updates inrelease  err http://security.ubuntu.com natty-security inrelease  err http://extras.ubuntu.com natty inrelease  err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty release.gpg   unable connect 172.22.4.200:8080: err http://security.ubuntu.com natty-security release.gpg   unable connect 172.22.4.200:8080: err http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com natty-updates release.gpg   unable connect 172.22.4.200:8080: err http://extras.ubuntu.com natty release.gpg   unable connect 172.22.4.200:8080: err http://dl.google.com stable inrelease  err http://dl.google.com stable release.gpg   unable connect 172.22.4.200:8080:
now checked browser , wget , able of domains mentioned though aptitude appears not able to. able use wget fetch files such http://ca.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/...ty/release.gpg.

now, did change our internet access @ work. used proxies (which did not work ubuntu , updates) using dpi firewall, believe. can tell, url go wget same url aptitude/apt-get using, yet fail , wget not. dpi looking @ host header sent in http requests aptitude? possible check/change sends host header? use port 80? (i'm not sure 172.11.4.200:8080 coming from).

or problem aptitude? saw people similar errors on here nothing helpful me.

thanks,

tom...

check if it's still looking proxy - maybe /etc/apt/apt.conf or have in settings> preferences> netowrk of synaptic.
