Thread: Very high ping to local Ubuntu machine

i have machine on local network running ubuntu use web development. i've set , i'm trying rid of few teething problems. 1 of them when connect in way server laptop experience huge amounts of lag. ssh unusable. both laptop , server connected network wirelessly.

here's a couple of pings laptop server:

mac:~ ben$ ping linux

it's odd on of them, ping decent speed, or @ least reasonable wireless network. first thought there may have been problem wireless adapter server uses (belkin wireless g) if ssh machine , ping router, speeds better, although still vary quite lot.

i don't think there's problem router when ping computer in house laptop, speed fine (averaging 5ms, guess isn't bad on wireless). furthermore when ping google server speed seems fine:

ben@linux:~$ ping google.com
