Elements catalog transportation

help!! struggling transport , use photoshop elements 8 catalog new photoshop elements 10 installation. of manuals , tutorials have read or listened assume elements 10 has been installed on same machine elements 8 installed. not case.

 

i have been using elements 8 organize snapshots on aging dell desktop, running windows xp, since 1969. use 500gb lacie external hard drive (drive:e) backup purposes , 1tb lacie external hard drive (drive:f:) store digital photos, having first made duplicate copies on cd/dvds. internal hard drive became fuller , performance becoming more sluggish, took opportunity when elements 10 offered @ price purchase , around more up-to-date computer. plumped lenovo desktop intel core i3 processor, running windows 7 (no included monitor.)

 

since february 2004, i’ve managed accumulate 30,000 files – yes, know i’m not selective i’ve travelled lot – , along these files i’ve managed create 700 tags.

 

my first attempt @ importing pse8 organiser catalog consisted of me going catalog backup on e:drive , `converting’ that. using converted file, renamed ‘elements 8 catalog’ current catalog began connect photo files on f:drive. should maybe point out @ juncture, because of lack of 2^nd monitor, have disconnect , reconnect monitor external hard drives when switching 1 computer other. after many minutes (hours) , allowing degree of ‘stacking’, when job finished i’d managed retrieve 10 tags, applying 6 old photos.

 

as pse8 organiser catalog backup 120gb on e:drive, reluctant copy onto new c:drive , hope best. instead, searched ‘my catalog’ on old computer , found @ ‘c:\documents , settings\all users\application data\adobe\elements organizer\catalogs\my catalog’.

 

looking @ size of `my catalog’ folder it’s 736mb seemed lot more manageable. plan copy folder 3 sub-folders 8gb usb flash drive. insert flash drive new computer , see if new version of elements find , useful that. however, again after many minutes (hours), copying stopped error message `cannot copy breeze-29666: directory or file cannot created.’ time 731mb of 736mb had been copied. tried copying , pasting remaining files `breezedata’ folder prompted similar error message.

 

where go here?

 

i wondering uninstalling elements 10 , components new computer, installing elements 8 on computer, using restore backup e:drive , re-installing elements 10. luck elements 10 find , invite conversion of old catalog. thoughts?
