Layer masks posterized
i having problem in photoshop cs6 getting posterization in layer mask, instead of smooth gradient / transition. 87% sure resulting in visible hard transition in final image (a tiff, not jpeg).
i have tried applying gaussian blur mask, changes posterization, doesn't remove it. doing gaussian blur document in 16 bit mode doesn't make difference.
the posterization visible @ zoom levels. have tried setting cache levels 1 , gpu acceleration basic (and restarting ps), still see posterization when using soft brush on layer mask.
i read of other threads on forum people had problems graphics cards / monitor profiles causing things posterized when weren't really. examples given in threads looked okay me, think photoshop related problem rather general problem me. i've attached 2 screenshots below, can open them full size , see if appear posterized you.
i'm not sure problem or how fix it?
thanks
dave
your monitor connection , profile can responsible visible posterization. see posterization in screen grabs posted, points finger more @ either actual posterization in file or because of monitor profile.
does posterized if use gradient tool create smooth gradient without the [ ] dither checkbox set in options bar?
