Lightroom "edit in" creating huge file sizes?

i feel silly asking because feel should know answer, i'd rather clear once , avoid in future.

so, photographing moon tonight , shooting in usual format - raw. took photos lightroom , selected 1 liked best. after tweaking contrast , clarity little, decided wanted change around moon way positioned - in way crop wouldn't allow. turned "edit-in" , selected photoshop cs6 options. fine, photoshop appeared , began editing. decided wanted place moon in different location, decided i'd select area around moon, copy it, paint on it, paste moon onto new layer , paste wanted it. think why i'm having issues. , time save. hit save...suddenly taken ages save. i'm talking @ least 2 minutes of save time. realising odd, decided check out how big new file was...nearly 1gb big tiff.

i don't saving photos other tiffs, don't have unlimited storage space.

why file huge after editing in photoshop, how avoid it/what did wrong?

what pixel dimensions (width x height), how many bits file, 8 or 16—it should on title bar of image, did use sort of compression saved it, , did save maximum compatibility—you should lr?
