Thread: Can't activate Broadcom STA in "Additional Drivers"

i have installed ubuntu 11.04 on lenovo b570 in dual boot config alongside windows 7. i've downloaded correct broadcom sta drivers (the model broadcom bcm4313) pc, transferred them usb stick, installed them synaptic , locked version recommended. i've used rfkill command turn off software block, both hardware , software switches ok.

problem when go "additional drivers" application, yells @ me not having internet access, , shows empty. confuses me because i've manually installed it, think show regardless, doesn't.

in final effort make happy, i've brought work , connected through ethernet, setting proxy lan settings let through firewall. can on web firefox method, when launch "additional drivers", sits there searching drivers endlessly, i'm guessing it's not connected.
feel i'm close here - need enable broadcom driver, can't because "additional drivers" won't show it.

ok.you not need download file.remove it!!!

have 2 ways install drivers in ubuntu

:installation of synaptic (access internet)

ii: installation manual (i'd recommend second method.)

not need download file. should install following packages.
dkms package prerequisites must installed. ,install dkms form ubuntu 4.11 dvd(cd):
path:
/pool/main/d/dkms
then:

/pool/restricted/b/bcmwl
install it.
not need download , install package.!!!

after this,go terminal , typeif network manager not working, , says unmanaged, or networking disabled)

sudo rm /var/lib/networkmanager/networkmanager.state
finally :init 6
