Thread: Cannot add new user. At all.


i'm new this, please forgive me:

set account administrator. trying create new user member of household. however, reason ubuntu won't recognize me administrator, , won't let me add others system. keep getting message saying,

"the configuration not saved. not allowed modify system configuration."

based on google search of message, i'm dealing common bug, can apparently fixed deleting file "/etc/group.lock" if case, how go doing this? work? or there solution problem?

first, make sure sudoer (admin). this, open terminal. (applications>accessories>terminal)

paste output of:
code:
sudo -s
(enter password there)

if see root@hostname:~#, admin. if not, post here full message.

--- assuming see root@hostname:~# ---
add user using terminal, following:
code:
adduser username
(username = name of new user)

ask new user's password, etc.
