Thread: Grub is hiding my CD drive from WinXP

hello.

installed ubuntu 11.04 on laptop alongside winxp. reason grub hides cd drive winxp not ubuntu. can access drive in ubuntu, doesn't appear in winxp @ all.

know there solution this, can't remember is. modifying grub.conf or that. know how fix this?

i don't think possible grub xp.

far know, hands on boot process windows bootloader (ntldr), takes care of boot process, passing boot arguments specified in "boot.ini" file.

grub 'cannot' pass own boot arguements windows, hence cannot interfere how windows deals hardware (or else) while or after booting.

knowledge regarding may incomplete, although believe i'm absolutely right above explanation.

while in windows, open device manager , see if drive shows there. maybe disabled, or have no drive letter assigned.

have @ least once experienced same problem, had nothing grub or linux. 'windows only' machine. far can remember, registry error - deliberately created cd based game - "downtown run" (or maybe virus in it).

After Effect warning: A problem occurred when processing OpenGL commands

i have after effects cs6 in computer cs5.5 installed. 64bit windows 7 ultimate 20gb memory , 2 amd radeon hd 6900 series display adapters drivers updated hour ago (driver date 27.7.2012, version 8.982.0.0).   when trying use after ecffects, error message " after effect warning: problem occurred when processing opengl commands " when clicking composition window.   what done? not much, i'm afraid. need older graphics driver. other disable second card or play configuration. unfortunately not smart person decided cs6 no longer need manual opengl control user, there's no way suppress within program force-revert software-only modes in case of such issues...   mylenium More discussions in After Effects adobe
