Thread: Howto revive Ext HD

all,

have seagate .5t external hd use backups, downloads, etc. know seagate drivers pre-formatted ntfs.

in middle of downloads, downloading u box did reset, not sure why, ext hd gives message:
error mounting: mount exited exit code 13: $mftmirr not match $mft (record 0).
failed mount '/dev/sdb1': input/output error
ntfs either inconsistent, or there hardware fault, or it's a
softraid/fakeraid hardware. in first case run chkdsk /f on windows
reboot windows twice. usage of /f parameter very
important! if device softraid/fakeraid first activate
, mount different device under /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g.
/dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). please see 'dmraid' documentation
more details.
since i've converted u boxes how run equivalent of "chkdsk /f" on ntfs drive?

thanks!

omr

all,

though got no response , still want know how in ubuntu, got hooked win box , fixed it.

thanks!

omr
