Thread: Mini USB Projector (AIPTEK) not working in Ubuntu 10.04
hi everyone,
running ubuntu 10.04 main os, , have windows 7, windows xp, windows vista, , ubuntu 11.04 (yes multiple boot, , yes need them all, windows variants, except ubuntu 11.04 (that's partition test new linux versions) - i'm teacher need use various old programs , virtualbox me favors, nor compatibility features in windows), on dell inspiron 9400, duo core 1.98ghz, 2gb ram, ati x1400 128mb graphics.
purchased mini (pocket) usb projector made aiptek. model rvt6, , great because it's led powered usb , tiny. works fine under aforementioned windows installations, inside virtual box windows xp. want able use in linux, , not work in 10.04 nor 11.04. usb projector has switch @ back, , switch can make go projection mode, or turns firmware-type usb stick loads virtual cd drive user can install drivers. these windows-based drivers however. not work under wine. projector works fine within virtual box running windows xp, lose few frames due performance lag here , there when play videos.
when type lsusb in terminal, get:
bus 001 device 008: id 08ca:2137 aiptek international, inc.
ubuntu recognizes device, of course, otherwise not work in virtual box either.
there driver export vga usb linux?
thoughts since linux "sees" device, not know driver assign it. have sisusbvga? , how use it?
or perhaps should (also) try updating xorg.conf? although can't find anymore (is not required?). if have update or create xorg.conf, should under /usr/lib/x11/xorg.conf.d ? , should write in there?
finally, if linux recognize projector, how can make project either "mirror", "extended screen", etc. of monitor, , can use switch or launcher/script/command turn on or off?
appreciated.
not advanced user of linux gurus in here patient me.
thank kindly,
dimitris
