Thread: Partial upgrade -- how to find out why?


(this request information, not fix.)

use lucid 64-bit.

morning, ran update manager, , gave following error:



how can find out reason behind this? (it concerns firefox, upgraded version 4 because of persistent errors in version 3. have ppa http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/firefox-stable/ubuntu lucid main.)

command line gives following results:

$ sudo apt-get upgrade following packages have been kept back:   firefox following packages upgraded:   firefox-branding firefox-gnome-support language-pack-en language-pack-en-base
synaptic package manager different. allow me update, on condition removes package firefox-globalmenu.

clearly, there clash firefox-globalmenu; how find more information?

i got on 10.04 system. somewhere made cockup.

looking @ command line history fixed with:

sudo dpkg -r xul-ext-ubufox ubufox sudo apt-get -f upgrade
but firefox still being held back.
